Thiruvalluvar Library is one of the premier integral part of Civil Service Training Institute, Bhavanisagar by Government of Tamilnadu under Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Training) Department, which is known for its notable collection of Service Rules, Code Books, Service Manuals, Legal books etc., The Library has fairly large collection of books, reading materials and VCD/DVDs etc.,

The Library caters to the reading and reference needs of the trainees, faculty members, and office staff. Our mission is to facilitate convenient and user friendly access to current and relevant information by identifying, acquiring, organizing and retrieving information to serve the information needs of the trainees and government officials of CSTI to meet their teaching, training and learning requirements.

1. Stack Room (A/c)

The Library has 8906 documents including books and non-book materials.

2. Reference Section (A/c)

Tiruvalluvar Library is fully stocked with rare and notable reference sources, they are

There are two reading halls available in Tiruvalluvar Library. One is situated in Reference section, another one is general reading section, where the users have access to current periodicals. Complete Airconditioned Reading halls are furnished with comfortable furnitures where 150 trainees can be accomadated at a time.

4. Periodical Section

The Periodical section has more than 30 magazines and journals along with Government Publications which are used by trainees exclusively during their training period.

5. E-Corner

The Library has a rich collection of digital content such as e-book, e-journal, online tutorials and G.Os which could be accessed via e-corner terminal.

6. Photocopy / Print Section

Photocopy machine with printing and scanning facility is available in our library for patron use during all regular library hours.

7. Back Volume Section

Back issues of periodicals and dailies are maintained at this section for about one year for reference purpose.

SERVICES:

The Library provides the following services

Lending Services

This service is mainly available to the registered members of the Library and the guest faculty. Library members are entitled to borrow/ renew/reserve the books.

Reference Services

This is a personal aid to the user by the library staff in interpreting library collection for study and reference to assist the users to locate the needed information from available sources.

Newspaper Clipping Services

In addition to the indexing of newspaper articles, the library also maintains clippings of newspaper articles.

Current Awareness Services

  • Display of New Arrivals
  • Display of Important Information/News on Notice Boards
  • Reprography Services

The services for photocopying the documents are provided to the readers on need basis.

General Rules
  • Silence Should be strictly observed in the Library.
  • Books will be lent to Trainees only for a period of 15 days
  • Borrowers are expected to return the books on or before the due date
  • Books may be return on all working days.
  • Library books to be used with utmost care and to be returned without any damage.
  • Writing or underlining in a book or tampering with a book in any manner is strictly prohibited.
  • Reference books, Magazines and Dailies cannot be taken out of the Library.
  • In case of any loss of a book by any trainee, 2 times the cost of the book will be recovered.
  • The Library is under 24 hrs surveillance with the aid of CCTV cameras.
  • The library accepts donations of manuscripts, books, and journals etc., which are found useful to the students.
  • Usage of mobile phones is not permitted inside the library.
  • Trainees or staff who leave the institution for any reason in the middle of the term should return the borrowed books before leaving the institution.
  • Books recommendation register is placed at the entrance of the library. Trainees and staff may recommend/suggest the contemporary books to be purchased for Library.
